In the Community

Our club meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month to
discuss and brainstorm over ways we can help those in need.   For
example, when we discovered that some Leonia school children were
unable to afford proper eye-care, we teamed up with the schools and
a local eye-doctor to help those children get eye-exams and glasses.
The Lions also reach out to organizations such as , the  Fire Dept., the
Boy Scouts and other Youth Groups.
OUR MISSION: We Serve
Leonia Lions Club
The Lions Club of Leonia is a service oriented non-political group
whose main projects are geared towards helping the visually
impaired.  Volunteerism is at the heart of our efforts, and the club has
a 70-year track record of reaching out to those in need .  The Lions
club is composed of a friendly group of people who enjoy getting
together on a regular basis.

The Lions Club of Leonia is a member of Lions Clubs International, the
world's largest service organization with over 1.4 million men and
women belonging to clubs in over 191 countries and geographical
locations.

Thank You for Your Continued Support of the Lions

The members of the Leonia Lions Club, as neighbors and volunteers,
are thankful for your continued support.  Your tax-deductible
donations assist us in our ongoing projects of maintaining camps for
the blind, eye banks, and special schools for the blind.  Please be
assured that 100% of all contributions received will be used for
charitable causes and programs.  We are a recognized 501 (c) (3) so
we are able to receive your tax-deductible contributions.
Donate Your used Eyeglasses:  Simply drop your old
eyeglasses into our yellow mailbox located outside of PNC
Bank on Broad Avenue, or in our drop box inside the Leonia
post office.  We pickup the eyeglasses on a regular basis
and send them on to be redistributed.  Donated eyeglasses
are used by children and adults around the world.  There's a
good chance that your old unused glasses will give someone
the joy of experiencing corrected vision for the first time in
their life.  Millions in undeveloped countries lack access to
basic eye care services.  Please make the effort to donate
the glasses rather than discarding them or leaving them
unused.
Peace Poster Contest: Each year the Lions Club sponsors a
contest for children who create posters with the theme of world
peace.  The winner will be recognized by the club and perhaps
have a chance to gain entry into the the international competition.
Scholarship Fund:  The Leonia Lions Club proudly sponsors an annual scholarship.  The "Edward R. and Brunette
L.Miller / Leonia Lions Club Award" is given each year to a visually or physically impaired graduate of Leonia High
School to further their education.
